Q: What is the difference between the Comfort Heat
Pump System and Smart Heat or Intelligent Heat?
A: The Comfort Heat Pump System is the revolutionary step in
Carrier’s quest to improve heat pump comfort that began with the Intelligent Heat and
Smart Heat systems. There is a remarkable dehumidification benefit that is part of the
Comfort Heat Pump System as well.What is most significant is the ability to initiate
cooling operation in response to unacceptably high levels of relative humidity, and to
adjust operation based on the need to cool, dehumidify or both.The required humidity
sensing and control of the accessory humidifier operation is handled by the Thermidistat
Control™, to provide additional comfort when conditions require.
Q: How is the improvement in heating comfort
possible?
A: The improvement starts with lower airflow delivery, compared to
conventional heat pump systems. This is made possible because necessary airflow is
virtually guaranteed with the ICM2.3 motor. High capacity coils also enable comfort.
Q: What is Super Comfort Heat mode?
A: Super Comfort Heat mode occurs between 12°F and 40°F outdoor
ambient temperature, during which airflow is further reduced, therefore increasing the
supply air temperature. The benefits regarding comfort are very noticeable at this point.
Further, with conventional heat pumps, comfort is most at risk at these ambient
temperatures. This is due to the fact that the supply air temperature is typically enough
to satisfy the thermostat, but not necessarily warm enough for the occupants to
"feel" warm.
Q: What is Intelligent Heat mode?
A: Traditional systems turn on 100% of the auxiliary heaters any time
there is a call for second stage heat, and turn off all 100% upon second stage
satisfaction. Intelligent Heat uses auxiliary heaters more…intelligently, to provided
more even and consistently comfortable heat.
